AGM & YMCA Family Fortunes
Andrew Jenkins on 09/12/2009
After the highly successful AGM in 2008 we decided to follow up with another TV game-show favourite - this year we held YMCA Family Fortunes. Two teams made up of a mixture of hostel residents, board members and staff competed as the two families trying to guess the answers given by our survey of 50 residents! It turned out to be a really enjoyable, effective and fun way of getting all kinds of information across to a fairly diverse audience of around 60 people. Amongst many other things, we learned that the most popular meal in the dining room is lasagne, that there are 14,000 YMCAs in the world, the most popular YMCA activity in DFL was using the computers. The compere for the evening in the role of Les Dennis was Housing Officer James Baker and the entertainment finale was a well rehearsed version of the Village People's classic... as if we haven't heard that one enough by now! The standard AGM agenda did take place complete with reports from the Chairman, Chief Executive and Auditor and everyone was rewarded by a superb in-house cooked curry to finish this rather good event. Which is not something you can usually say about AGMs!
