This website is primarily to promote the housing and homelessness work of the Cardiff YMCA Housing Association. The more “traditional work” such as youth and community work and leisure activities is undertaken by the Cardiff YMCA which is a separate organisation, even though both YMCAs are based in the same building. The Cardiff YMCA is working on its own site which will eventually be linked with this one. In the meanwhile we have included pages on their work under the heading "YMCA Activities".

Before I came to the hostel I had had my own tenancy, but had suffered a very scary burglary which left me too frightened to go back there. When I left I spent 2 nights literally on the street. I had never slept (if that’s the right word) on the street before and even though I’ve been no angel myself in the past, I was terrified of being out and on my own.
